Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the epistemological foun-dations of P. Tillich’s theology. The concept of “controlling” and “perceiving” cognition, biopolarity of the cognitive mind, the process of cognition as a certain form of communication and remoteness, socio-political, historical-philosophical and theological connotations of the epistemological concept of the thinker are analyzed
