At the sources of scientific worldview: “cosmotheoria” and “weltanschauung”

Keywords: worldview, scientific worldview, space theory, Weltanschauung, κόσμος, θεωρία, contemplation, wereldbeschouwing

Abstract

The article examines the history of the scientific worldview during the scientific revolution of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The main sources of this worldview are shown, which are reflected in the concept of "cosmotheoria". The genesis of this concept and its components "κόσμος" and "θεωρία" are highlighted. The author emphasizes the falsity of Heidegger's idea that the concept of "worldview" did not exist in pre-Kantian philosophy. The linguistic transitions from "cosmotheoria" to "Wereldbeschouwing" and "Weltanschauung" are carefully studied. The article also analyzes the socio-historical conditions of these language transformations.
