Methodological problems of research of the phenomenon of identity and their actualization in the modern world

Keywords: identity, methodology of identity research, existential essence of the process of self-identification

Abstract

The article analyzes the history of the search for the most adequate and effective methodology for studying the phenomenon of identity. Emphasis is placed on the historical variability of the phenomenon itself, the need to take into account the existential context in its study, and the general trend towards existentialization of the methodology of analysis. The author explores the experience of interpreting the essence of identity by Francis Fukuyama, which, in his opinion, is carried out in the trends of existential psychology and existential political science through the concepts of "megalothymia" and "thymus". In the perspective of the actualization of identity problems during globalization, situations of "identification uncertainty" and its "defragmentation" are mentioned as a stable and inevitable process of modern social development.
