Integral Approach and its Role in the Boundaries Extension of Cognitive and Transformative Possibilities of Contemporary Civilization
Abstract
Historical background of creation of integral approach, its intellectual origins, its development stages and its role in the culture of postindustrial civilization was analyzed in this article. Analysis shows that integral approach overcomes two methodological problems: problem of methodological reductionism and problem of theoretical fragmentation of scientific discourse. Difference between two conceptions of integral approach: Niels Bohr’s complementarity principle and Ken Wilber’s integral methodology was explicated in this article. Relation between Wilber’s conception of integral methodological pluralism, Hegel’s conception of dialectical synthesis and Derrida’s conception of deconstruction was clarified. Influence of integral approach on the boundaries of cognitive and transformative possibilities of contemporary civilization was analyzed
